Kale Chef Service is a chef and woman-owned catering company in Scottsdale specializing in gourmet, farm-to-table cuisine. We offer full-service event and dinner party catering, pickup, and drop-off catering, a gourmet charcuterie bar, and in-home weekly meal prep services.
We're looking for a driven, positive, and passionate sous chef to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong passion for culinary excellence and a keen eye for detail. You will assist the Executive Chef in providing exceptional food quality and presentation.
Location: Scottsdale, Arizona
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Rotates between Monday-Friday and Tuesday-Saturday: 8 am - 5 pm (1 hr lunch) most days depending on events and business volume.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the kitchen staff in all aspects of food production for event catering and weekly meal prep services
- Evaluate food products to ensure consistent quality standards
- Establish and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff
- Create prep sheets
- Take care of all ordering and shopping of products
- Recruit and train new employees
- Excellent culinary math for food ordering needs and finding ways to reduce costs
- Communicate with The Executive Chef on a daily basis in an effective manner
- Ensure all food, cooking ingredients, and packaging are available for production
- Take pride in your work
- Be able to lead a kitchen staff and be a part of a growing team
Qualifications
- Local Candidates Only
- A positive demeanor and 'can do' attitude
- 3+ years' of experience in a Sous Chef Role in a fine dining and/or scratch kitchen
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of healthy cooking techniques and diets for our weekly meal prep services
- Passionate in creating beautiful, gourmet food for casual breakfast buffets to multi-course tasting dinners
- Can work well and prioritize food production schedule as needed
- Intermediate Knowledge of GSuite (Google Calendar, Maps, Docs, Drive, Sheets, etc)
- Intermediate Knowledge of Microsoft Word (Word, Excel, etc.)
